Farewell 2011!

This was 2010 setting as I drove from home to, well..., home last year. I never used to give my mom much attention when she said that the years went by so fast. Call me a true adult, though, because this year raced by!! And speaking of racing...

If omens be literal, 2012 stands to be my banner year!! (I was driving east on Northwest Highway this morning when this plucky little napkin blew across the road and up onto my antenna, not to be dislodged until I pulled into the Park Cities and forcibly removed it. Tenacious little bugger.) So, goodbye 2011!!! We had our handful of ups and some major downs, but I'm carrying a banner for 2012 now!! Wishing you nothing but the best! xxoo jenni - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Christmas Lights

First stop: Starbucks for a festive drink and a yummy treat.

This years 10th Annual yay-school's-out-let's-go-look-at-lights extravaganza is underway!

Second stop: SMU.

Third stop: the Park Cities. No actual stopping. Just a lot of voyeurism. (I'll never understand how people can stand to leave their drapes open wide to let the world look at them walking around inside....not to mention all their stuff!)

You know, I grew up in a neighborhood where people came in droves to trick-or-treat and then later look at Christmas lights, so I know how frustrating it can be when all you're trying to do is get home, and in my day we didn't have to contend with horse-drawn carriages and Hummer limos and very narrow streets, but it is SO unnecessary to flash your brights and tailgate and almost sideswipe cars and horses.

(Yeah, that was one sentence.)

Merry Christmas!!

Confessions of a food snob

Oh crud. When did it happen? When did I walk into a faculty lounge, grab a yogurt, and cringe on first taste?

It's perfectly normal yogurt. Fancy even by my daddy's cherry-Yoplait-only yogurt standard.

But uh! UGH!

The texture. The flavor. The sweetness. All NASTY!

When did I become a foodie snob?!

I want my $2 organic Greek yogurt, please.

Missed Connection: Walgreens

I was cold, so I sat in my car at the drive-thru at Walgreens. You were brave, manly, and inside.

You were also boyishly handsome When you gazed my way, I was making a weird face.

I don't normally make weird faces.

Too bad federal laws prevent you from asking the nosy and too perky pharm tech for my name/number.
Sigh

My very public shame

So I had to leave school today because I had a fever. :( 99 when I'm usually in the 97s. (Does that make me a reptile?)

Fever still burning strong at 7pm, but a body's got to eat. And since I conserve gas as I can, I rarely go one place if I'm out already.

Hence my trip to the post office. And the revelation of my very public shame.

I'm wearing leggings as pants. I'm so embarrassed. I forgot I had them on--totally thought I had on yoga pants. Oh no. Leggings. Actually more like tights.

I am a person of WalMart. I am Lindsay Lohan. I'll be going through a drive-in for sure.

Holiday Dressing

It's that glorious time of year when I fall in love with holiday dressing.

Of course, when I say "holiday dressing" I don't mean cocktail dresses and high heels.  I mean I honestly love turkey and dressing more than is normal.

But, alas, I need no help with eating.  I do just fine on my own.  But I do need help with the other kind of holiday dressing.

So I found a gold sequin cardi/jacket that looks a little something like this:

from www.nordstrom.com

But I have no earthly idea how I am going to wear it.  Mine is a little more cropped--not quite a bolero style jacket.  And I really hate wearing pants or I'd wear it as shown here.

Is a tulle skirt too toddler?  Can a grown woman make a sophisticated version of it?  Short?  Long?  Should I go with a boring old matte/duchess satin A-line skirt?  Paper-bag waist?

Oh the agony of options!!!
