Etsy Dallas Jingle Bash Recap

I am fortunate enough to be a member of Etsy Dallas, a group of awesome Dallas artists.  I can't tell you how wonderful these people are!  Although I've been a member for about a year, I've met some great people through ED.  I am continually amazed by the work they produce and have to pinch myself sometimes to believe I am a part of such a talented group of people.

The Jingle Bash is Etsy Dallas' annual event that promotes handmade vendors in a fun, party-like atmosphere (read: mood lighting, a DJ, bars, lounge space).  Saturday was....pretty awesome.

But I started working on the Bash this summer when I was asked to be on TEAM BASH.  As a part of this organizing body, I worked on developing and promoting the Bash Bucks contests on Twitter and the Blog.  I also worked to do some PR with media outlets.  And, perhaps the biggest job of all, I collected all of the donations for the Bash Bags and stuffed them before the event.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I also had a booth at the event?

Friday night. Empty Space. Helping set up for the Bash.

We all know Jenni needs a little sparkle.

One of my display pieces: a fantastically gorgeous green vintage suitcase set.

By the end of the evening, my carousel display was....bare.

It was a great show.  I couldn't have done it without my mom who drove in from the 806 to help out.  Absolutely wouldn't have been able to do it without her!!!!!!

Save the date for the Spring Bash: May 5, 2012!

Confessions of the sleep deprived

So I called my good friend from Hobby Lobby tonight and said: Mo! They have green Christmas trees at Hobby Lobby!!!! You've got to see them.

Of course, you, as a rational human, react as Mo did: ummm....

Oh, language, how you fail those of us who love you. I was, of course, trying to say that her signature bright acid green was transformed into glittery Christmas tree goodness and was 50% off.

Instead, I just reinforced the idea that maybe it's time to seek professional help for this lack of sleep ridiculousness.

How do moms do it?!

On another note, here's my new friend--also 50% off.

Time after time

I've never been a great sleeper--have always needed more than the average bear to function. And it usually takes me forever to fall asleep (no, Daddy, it's not because I have a guilty conscience). And I can't remember the last time I slept the whole night through.

Daylight Savings *kills* me. Even the blessed "fall back" kills me. An extra hour of sleep? Tell that to my body that wakes up at 5am.

And while we're at it, can we please tell my body that just because it's dark at 6:45 doesn't mean we need to be sleepy?

Denim and Diamonds

little jenni about 4 or 5?

Despite the fact that I'm a card carrying West Texas Girl, I've never been much into jeans.

Except for those few years in elementary school when I was obsessed with obtaining as many pairs of Girbaud jeans and jean shorts as possible (red jeans, light wash denim, even a pair of green and black striped jean shorts), and my senior year in high school when I virtually lived in a pair of jeans, some Nike kicks, and a rotating variety of GAP Anoraks (I know...), jeans were never really my go-to garment.

In Dallas, it's so humid and gross for so many months of the year, I just can't bring myself to wear them.  And, since I am a teacher, jeans aren't accepted work attire, so I never really shop for them.

Jeans are weird.  I know that some girls are obsessed with theirs, have a zillion different washes and cuts and lengths hanging out in their closets, but I just don't enjoy them.  Something that should be so easy to work with is just too much.  Something that looks so great on virtually 90% of the female population just doesn't really work for my body--or at least the way I perceive my body.

But today, I am wearing jeans.  And, reader, I'm pretty happy with them.

Especially when paired with my favorite pink driving mocs I bought in Provence several years ago.  When these pearlescent, well-loved babies go, I will cry.

What are you wearing this weekend?  Jeans?  PJs?

Beauty is my bag

I vaguely remember signing up for a bag of samples at Target.  I don't remember where I read it (I don't subscribe to beauty magazines anymore) or who told me I should.

But when I saw this in the mail today, let me tell you, I got a little excited.

First of all, this 8x4 box was heavy.  I mean heavy for its size.

And, dear reader, I squealed with delight as I started to extract this gem.  Who cares what's inside.  This satiny pink floral bag is awesome.  A girl can never have too many toiletry bags.  I might use this to tote some girlie-time supplies.  Maybe some sewing notions?  A pen bag?  The options are limitless!

Just keeps getting better!

Inside are THREE different kinds of shampoo/conditioner samples and that coupon book?  It has coupons for each of the sample products AND other beauty buys at Target.

Anybody who knows me knows I love Target.  Anybody who knows me knows I've also really tried to curtail my Target shopping lately to save $$.  But oh, you better believe the next time I need something Neutrogena, I'll be at Target, using my coupon from this awesome freebie.

PS--Target did not sponsor this post.  I mean, yes, I got samples, but it wasn't a tit for tat kind of deal.  Full disclosure.

At each Bash, no matter the venue, you walk into a wonderland of awesomeness. This year will be no different.

Check out some pix (taken by Regina/Regal Cottage). Oh yes, that is Tefi with the coveted Bash Bags. I'm collecting goodies for the bags, and, let me tell you, I'm tempted to keep everything!!!!

Sparkle Life

After I was nearly asphyxiated at Jo-Ann Fabrics last night (cinnamon pinecones at the front entrance), and looked in vain for 1" masking tape, I stumbled upon this glittery gorgeousness.

That's not ribbon, my friends. That's a roll of repositionable, cuttable, glittery home deco awesome.

I didn't buy it. (Though I should have, at 25% off PLUS an additional 15% with my teacher discount it would have been no more than a fancy coffee.)

Look what other fun patterns there be (though the glitter is the fave):
